Although some of the products are specifically designed for emergency evacuation of non-ambulant patients, several of the other products in the moving and handling range are suitable to use in these situations. This page includes details of these dual purpose items, as well as the specialist equipment
The evacuation sheet is placed under the
mattress of the care bed once. Holes punched over the entire surface of
the sheet allow uniform ventilation between the mattress and the slatted
frame.
In a rescue situation, two safety belts are simply and quickly placed across the mattress, the buckles are closed and the loose ends of the belts tightened as firmly as possible. For the recumbent patient, this brings the mattress into a safe, protective u-shape. In a rescue situation, the Evacuation sheet can very easily and safely be dragged over floors, tiles, carpeting, down stairs and out of the hazardous area by a single person. By holding large belt grips at the top and bottom ends and at the centre of the two sides, the mattress is pulled out of the bed and across the floor into a safe zone. The evacuation sheet is ideal for window rescue. It has been tested by the South German Technical inspectorate and has a DIN EN 1865 test certificate. The Alpha 400 system is designed to be used in extreme transfer situations involving heavy patients. The sheet may be used alone as a lifting sheet or for emergency evacuation.
The transfer sheet can be safely lifted and
carried by up to 12 people. Every carrier loop is attached to the
